Going for the Halloween look. Suggestions/Instruction regarding hi-lighting and and avoiding paint "chalky-ness" would be greatly appreciated.

Thin thy paints sir(50/50 mix of paint and water)! You can also use some simple washes, like the citadel range, to quickly and easily turn a 3 color bland mini into an eye catching table-top piece.

I realize there is some detail lacking, but I'd really love to have some suggestions as to how I could blend/shade better... for example, his shirt is blotchy, and chalky looking. I have a very difficult time with hi-lighting. It always looks very unnatural to me, but the better paint jobs I see here are so smooth. Any suggestions?
