Morrigan, Priestess
This was my entry for the second round of the Iron Painter Season 2 competition at Wyrd Games. Iron Painter is a little different than most comps. Painters are paired off against a single opponent, and everyone has two weeks to paint a mini for each round. Each round has a 'special ingredient' painting technique. This round's was freehand. I tend not to do a lot of freehand, and when I have, it's usually a small symbol or picture type freehand. So I thought I should take the opportunity to practice designs and patterns. I was aiming for a choice of colours and pattern that would evoke snakiness on the dress, with the idea of portraying the woman as the more deadly animal of the three. All of the patterning on the snakes is freehand, they were sculpted smooth except for a shallow line lengthwise down their sides. I based the snakes' patterns on some pictures of real world snakes. I rarely paint eyebrows, but I felt this particular face needed them, and hey, it was another piece of freehand.
