Not a bad start I had a time with a cave troll, drove me a bit crazy. Definately get AWAY from the gloss coat--YUCK! Some selective gloss to highlight drool, blood and the like looks cool but too much just doesn't work. Get GW's new how to paint miniatures book (just came out). And while GW seems to be a dirty name around here the book has got some pretty good stuff, from basics to fairly advanced stuff.
Looks like a good beginning for only a month. It's a bit hard to give tips because of the dark picture. The eye's look a little gunky, like the paint was applied pretty thick. The belly/chest flesh looks pretty good, but again I can't tell for sure with the picture. Check out the articles and some of the forum postings here for better tips. I've improved alot in the short time I've checked this site.
