Aragorn

This was one of my entries for the australian + new zealand GD 06. I was fortunate enough to win the gold in the LOTR single mini category with him. It was good to paint another LOTR mini finally - I painted lots of them a few years ago because I am a huge tolkien lover haha, but it had been a while since my last...Aragorn is one of my favourites, especially in the 'strider' stage like this mini, so I thought it would be fun to paint him for GD! I tried to paint him as authentically as I could to match the movie - I had the fellowship DVD paused on heaps of scenes on my computer as I painted haha, to try to match the colours and so on. I also tried to use a more natural painting style, rather than a more fantasy style, to try to obtain some more realism. Therefore, he is quite dark and sombre - as he is in the fellowship movie I think. I hope you like him - there are more pics, better quality and larger, on my site.

thanks so much everyone, for the kind comments! I'm so glad that you like the mini. prawnpower - yes I see what you mean, it looks from the back like there is no blood on the underside of the sword haha - but yeah you are right, it must be a lighting thing, because there is blood the same on both sides of the sword in real - weird that it doesn't show in the pic...oh well! -sebastian
