Dark Angels Captain (Commission Piece)

The second one of two commissioned pieces. This was a simple and pleasant piece to work on. Let's face it with Space Marines unless you are doing your own chapter colour scheme there isn't a great deal of scope. As I hadn't painted this mini before, I found it an interesting piece to work on plenty of detail and enough skin to make it interesting. Colour scheme is primed Black, Chaos Black/Dark Angels mix as basecoat gradually working in more and more DA green to the mix then mixing in Snot green until finally mixined to Goblin green. Tabard is several thin coats of bleched bone /Skull white mix and then very thinly washed over with Bleached Bone, then blended back up with Bb& SW mix. I like the way it's turned out and more importantly, my customer was very happy.

I think to improve this piece, as someone suggested I would write on the purity seals with a Micron pen, and maybe jazz up the base a bit. Having said that, it's a great paintjob and the face is particularly striking (which is sorta the most important part of the mini to be "striking" when you get right down to it!).

It may be due to my favorite color being green, but I think its perfect. I love the color blending. I can't se anything wrong with it at all. Though I would want to give such a nicely painted mini a better base since his feet are over the edge. Still a 10 though.

The paintjob is excellent, very nice armor and the banner looks great too, except that you might add writings to the purity seals. Does not need much time and makes it look a lot better. The base is kind of boring and, in my opinion, makes the mini less interesting to look at than it deserves.
