Wren: thanks for the advice. I can see what you mean about the darklining. It could clean up the edges quite a bit. I worry that I may end with too cartoony a figure if I define the edges too much but when I look at the really good models on here they definately have more definition than mine.
I think you've done some very nice blending on the dress and the skin, and also the hair highlights. I think what's putting people off is partly the glossy finish, which most CMON voters dislike. Also this piece would be greatly improved by adding darklining - a thin line of a darker colour defining where two areas meet. So between the dress and the skin, or between the fingers.
