Bretonnian archers
These are my very first attempts to paint a mini. Well, for first attempt I was quite pleased with the result even still far beyond average level of the minis posted here. And now how I got into this. I'm, let's say, experienced builder of kits of aircraft (preferable scale 1/72). And during the time, there were fewer and fewer things which were able to really amaze me in the world of aircraft modelling. But on the modelling contests and competitions there started to appear more and more figures. But mostly big figures of WWII soldiers or medieval crusaders. These, although beatiful, didn't touch my heart. But, I am a quite a fan of fantasy worlds and then...I saw couple of tiny figures (28mm) from fantasy worlds and as also quality of painting was far far beyond my imagination, these figures are actually the only things, I remember from that contest. But I said to myself - no boy, no way, first finish all those aircaft kits you have allready home. But in couple of months I found a good friend of mine silently complaining about his clumsy fingers being in sad mood, that he will never get his army at least to avarage level of painting. Especially that the new one he would like to build - are Bretonnioans. I didn't know that he plays WH and he didn't know that I build kits. Well, end of the story...is here :-) The minis: Basecoat is done by vallejo and citadel paints. Covered with thin layer of oil colour and shading and highlighting is done by oils as well. After that I covered minis by gloss lacquer and improved shadows by wash of thinned dark oil colour. After another layer of clear lacquer I drybrushed highlights here and there and finally sealed the minis with flat varnish. (well, it was not so easy as it sounds, of course ;-) Bases - are my first attempts as well. base of terrain made from One-time putty, sprinkled with real earth, painted, washed, drubrushed and finally added a bit of static grass. I will appreciate any comments, what and how to improve, as... this is for me the first step of perhpas couple of hundreds :-)
