Paladin in tarnished armor
Basically I decided to go back to the drawing board with my miniatures and start trying to do as much as possible with each one.. .I've worked maybe.... six to eight hours on this lil paladin (not counting his base which took about an hour today... and most of that was just trying to protect the bottom of the wooden base from scratching.) None of the figure has any liners added... the brown looking lining was actually an extremely thinned (one drop of paint to three drops of water) of "Tin Bintz" from Games workshop. I used this color and thickness to make his armor shield and weapons look "tarnished" as if he was slogging through a lot of mud and crypts recently and hadn't made it home to his polishing kit. His armor is a combo of red ruby paint (slight metallics) and bright red paint (both RMS) while his legs are done in primer coat with a very thin layer of tin bintz stroked along the surface to create a silvery bronzed look. His shield is done in scaly highlight and olive greens along with the usual tarnish overcoat. His shoulder guards were done in pure RMS silver along with the mentioned tarnish coat. His sword was done by mixing tin bintz and pure gold form games workshop together while still wet (the gold went on first then I stroked in the tin bintz and let it mingle on it's own.) The ground is a mix of leather brown and brown liner as a base coat, and then while still wet a slight layer of thinned "lichen green" I think it worked out well for a loamy looking ground cover. Any and all comments would be appreciated.
