Little Miss Pigtails and Smokey

The young lady and her dragon friend were sculpted by Cindy Dukino as part of the charity fund-raising events run by Newbold World. I like Cindy's work, and she is exceptional not only for being a talented painter, sculpter AND 2D artist, but also for sculpting different subjects than the norm, like this charming pair. The table and open book are old lead pieces from my husband's collection, and the other book is part of a Reaper accessories pack. The floor is textured plasticard. I started with the idea of a young wizard's playroom, but between having recently reread Harry Potter's adventures in potions class and being the owner of two cute, troublesome and always-hungry pets, my idea morphed into this vignette. I've been meaning to try out painting something orange for a while now, and this seemed like a great opportunity. I had a lot of fun really getting detailed with the eyes and doing other detailing like the spellbooks and woodgrain. I was very pleased when I found out that the scene was voted to second place in the Paint Dukino competition. If you like this piece and you'd like the opportunity to support the charity Children in Need, please keep an eye out for the charity auction of this diorama!

The colours are a little TOO vibrant for me, but the painting is excellent - glowing and smooth. I think this piece really suits your style :)
