Sword Brethren Meltagun

I spent a bit more time on him than my normal troops. I know he still isn't spectacular but I think I'm making a bit of progress. The metals still look a bit flat and I'm not as happy with the skin or black highlights as I'd like to be. I painted the shoulderpads like a Sword Brethren model but I plan on using this guy as a normal Initiate as often as a Sword Brother. It would all depend on if I plan on infiltrating a lot of models or not - which won't be for a while since I would want at least a couple units up there so that they aren't left high and dry. I feel like I did worse on this guy that the Powerfist marine which is disheartening since I hope to get better each model I paint. Also, the varnish came out very shiny. I don't have the Powerfist model on me to compare at the moment but hopefully they don't mismatch too badly. I actually kind of like how shiny it is but it bothers me that I'm getting inconsistent results. Please leave comments, especially if you are going to rate me below TTQ.

Its clean and neat, but there are several areas that could use improvement, besides the obvious glossy coat. Better shading and highlighting can raise this beyond tabletop quality. The cables and chains could use inkwash to define the detail. And plopping bare rocks and sand on a base is a no-no. Use a finer sand glued more carefully, and painted. The high points on this mini are the face and the burnt wash on the gun muzzle.

Sorry, cannot share the enthusiasm the other voters confessed. Much too shiny for my liking, also you cannot really what is highlight and what reflection through the shine. Why not try some dull varnish, otherwise it seems to be good.
