Deamonhunters Dreadnought
Inspired by the news about the release of the new Deamonhunters army from the web and my English friends I decided to give our clients a chance to have such an unquestionable beauty as this Deamonhunters Dreadnought ;).
The basic thing I added to give this machine of justice specific look were the proper embellishments and items like: the sarcophagus with Inquisitor icon on it, emblems of similar character on his both legs, a few scrolls and inquisition books that add much of the climate of the 40K universe, and of course the thing I like most- purity seals!!!
He is armed with twin-linked lascannons and power arm. This combination makes him flexible on the battlefield, he is prepared to shooting as well as to hand-to-hand combat.
On his armour I placed deamonhunters emblem in the shape of a sword, and the same emblem on the banner. Both are in relief- to fix them on their place I used greenstuff. I also used greenstuff to fill in the gaps in the junctions.
Glue is very important element. For me the best is plastic Humbrol glue with the needle on its end-this needle allows you to precisely put the glue where you want to, so the mini is neat and clean. To glue metal to plastic I use epoxid glue- it gives strong junction that won’t fail on the battlefield and during transport. I also use pins to hold two pieces together- in this model
The sheme of painting is my own idea- I think the combination of black and red with additions of gold and silver fits well the climate of inquisition.
Before I started painting I cleaned the model (otherwise there could be problems with putting on the paint). I usually do it in the warm water with some dish washing liquid, or by wiping with the Testors’ dissolvent.
I used a black primer, and also I tried to obtain dark tint of red. To break the dark tone of the mini I used gold. To give the gold a deep look I started by putting the layer of Tin Bitz (Citadel) mixed with black, then lighter and lighter layers of Tin bitz and in the end final highlights with Mithril Silver (Citadel). After that I put the grey pastel to give this gold slightly verdigrised look. I used the Dekorfine pastels, because they stick well even to very smooth surface. After putting on the pastel you have to varnish it with an aerograph.
The final step was to paint the banners and incantations on the armour. I did it with very thin brush.
The base was painted with the simple yet effective drybrush technique, putting a few layers of drybrush, so that the rock gets realistic structure. I put there also a plant- I tried to make it look like the last plant on Earth, which, in a moment, will be treaded by this monstrocity!!
Koniec!
