Goth Chick

This was painted for the Dark Sword Miniatures web site. (Here's a look at the studio photographs.) This was quite a challenge for me on a number of levels. To start, this was the first time I tried to paint to follow artwork as closely as possible. I worked some of the same colour used on the hair into the skin shading to try to capture some of that sunset glow from the painting. The sculpt itself was challenging as it includes a lot of tiny buckles and straps and other detailing, but it helped that these were so cleanly sculpted. Freehanding in the stocking pattern was also quite a challenge, though there I think the main problem was just figuring out how to most effectively lay out a grid of dots to connect. It helped a lot to follow eastman's advice to use watercolour paints, being able to 'erase' things made it much less stress than it would have been otherwise.

The skin looks great. Glad that the watercolor techniques worked out for you (I know I'm glad I learned it from the garage kit painters).
