Iron Painter: Light my fire!
My entry for Iron Painter V, Round 2: Light my fire. Brother Sergeant Urien brought his flamer to bear, purging the taint of the archenemy from this once holy sanctum. This once holy site, the holiest in this sector, had become twisted and rife with the evil of chaos. When no other remedy remains, only the cleansing flame of the Emperor's truth can free a world from the touch of chaos. -end ficticious babble... I have been working on a Daemon Hunter Army off and on for a year or so now (mostly off) so when "light my fire" was the theme, it naturally led my mind straight to the Emperor's cleansing flame. Unfortunately, I am leaving town for a couple weeks and had to put a rush job on this one. I started it Friday and finished it the following Thursday. I am extremely pleased with the final product especially considering the truncated time frame. Technical notes: Standard plastic Termie with a Chaos head (I just like that head) and =I= shoulder pad. The base is cork with lots of bits and bobs of talus and the wall is from the Sanctum Imperialis set from GW. The flame is sculpted from apoxie sculpt over a wire frame and set into the barrels so I can rebase this guy later for the DH army. I am very please with the texture of the wall - which you probably cannot see in the photo, but I spray primed it black, then alternated spraying it with black and spray boltgun metal at a distance until I got a metallic-like rock finish. THe cork base I did the same with white and charcoal grey primer so that the lighter portion of the flames light would stand out.
