Night Goblin Squig Hopper Unit

Varnish (matt) made this unit much too shiny :( I'll upload some better pictures soon. All comments and advice welcome - e.g. how do i varnish without the models going shiny? :)

Thanks for the advice guys :) - The varnish I used was the one from a Paint Pot, does the shaking it well still work with that even though it's not a spray? :) I'm not sure if I'll ever use it on models I've spent a lot of time on again, even if it will help me avoid chipping it's obscured a fair few of the subtleties in layering, especially on the skin. y squigs get knocked over a fair bit though, so I guess this will avoid all of their boots and fingertips getting chipped of. Thanks again for the advice and comments, much appreciated!

Although they're rather more yellow than I like to see gobbos, this unit looks really good with the purple squigs. I've always rather liked the slightly shiny finish. It was the inevitable end result of using GW's old formula of "matt" varnish. The varnish was excellently transparent but did tend to dry shiny. More recent formulae have included an agent to keep the finish nice and matt, but if sprayed too close (or too thickly) tend to turn the model a bit grey (hence why it's not a popular brand). They say that Testor's Dullcote is *the* brand of matt spray, but I've not been able to find it in my local stores.

Use matte varnish and make sure it is shaken up VERY well. I recommend Testors. Still looks very good. I really like the idea of putting the goblin from the wolf chariot on a squig. =-] Good job! -=Aldmhac=-
