Master Hesperax Front

Hey Everyone! So this is my new Space Marine Master... The original one was sloppy, the checkers didnt really look like checkers and I just didnt think he came out well. So I went back to the start and remade him! The jump pack is from the blood angel special character, normal space marine helmet, grey knight shield, high elf shield things on his shoulder...all in all he was very simple and straightforward to make. He was painted in the standard colors of my new SM army...black, red, white, and checkers! I particularly like the swords, and the helmet, and the jump pack exhausts...and I think the checkers turned out beautifully...anyway, let me know what you think. Sorry for the multiple posts, but I cant do the super cool stacked pictures like everyone else...please be gentle if this annoys you. Thanks! -Squig

Thanks for all the kind words guys! I appreciate it! Ironically, this model is no longer with me. I replaced him (yet again) with another SM Captain...same Chaplain body, differenthead, no jumpack, and with two power swords held reverse behind his body. Not painted yet, hopefully it will be soon. But I only point out the irony of the fact that this is my best miniature I have so far (rating-wise) yet it is no longer with me haha. The reds are always fun to do, but the checkers...oh how I hate them. It is extremely frustrating trying to get them the same size, individually shade them if I remember, not make mistakes...and working with black and white is a little unforgiving if you make a mistake... @blue: I agree. I have a very difficult time with that overall. I tend to want to micro highlight everything, and empty spots tend to not sit well with me, so I get nervous that the miniature is not 'finished' enough and looks incomplete, so I continue to highlight and add writing, checkers, etc, until I feel it is 'done'. Also unfortunately, I never really go in with a cohesive idea of how I want the miniature to turn out. I kind of just start slapping paint on and build it as I go, which has helped me (sometimes) as much as hurt me (mostly). It is a shame most of my SM army is finished this way, don't want to go back and have to redo all of them... Thanks again guys!
