Logar The Executioner

You're looking my first real attempt at painting a mini. This is Logar The Executioner, REAPER mini #2547. I used a mixture of REAPER and Citadel paints on this guy. He comes also with a chopping block, and a basket containing the heads of his last few victims. I'm still working on those pieces. Before he's completed he'll be mounted on a 25mm base and accented with some static grass and gravel. For now I just wanted to get some opinions and suggestions on my painting style. Thank you, and Happy Painting!

Your efforts here are quite good given that this is your first miniature! Here's what I would do to improve: 1. Thin your paints---they're going on kind of gloopy, although the flesh areas are less so than the clothing 2. Shading is actually pretty good, especially on the flesh, but the visor and its attachments need more definition 3. I've heard people say that metallics can be shaded and highlighted---black washes (very thin!) can help define the metal portions of the miniature 4. Axe handle is pretty flat. Try defining the axe a bit more---imagine where the light would strike the handle, using the same concepts as are used for NMM to define the roundness of the cylindrical handle. A great first effort!
