LOL...yeah, I haven't really learned anything about bases yet. I'm still just acquiring painting techniques. All you voters out there: Pay no attention to the area below his feet! :)
It's gorgeous! The only explanation I can think of for its current score is that people don't like the subject (it's cute!) and your painting style is
not completely smooth (but it is rich and expressive). I would say the base needs some work, right now it kind of looks like you just glued some rocks to it and basecoated it.
