Imperial Guard Lord Commissar

This miniature represents two firsts for me: my first finecast model, and the first time I've really tried to replicate an 'Eavy Metal paint scheme. As to the former, I was pleasantly surprised that the model didn't leap out of the blister and murder my first born, such is the venom some people have reserved for the vinyl... but it was okay really, seemingly much sharper detail than the mildly wonky pewter I'm used to (which has it's own, half-cut appeal... but anyway...) Less of an allusion of worth of course, due to the significantly reduced weight. I've heard things have mightily improved since the line was first introduced though, so I'm probably much more charitable than someone who thought they were buying a Necron Overlord and came home with two grams of flash and missing noses. Anyway.... the paint replication... probably foolhardy, because I was constantly looking at the GW packaging despondently when my own attempts started to resemble a disgruntled garden gnome. But it certainly took all the stress out of deciding what colours to use, and I'm not unhappy with the paint job when compared against my recent work. Constructive comments, as ever, welcome.
