Mid war 20 mil fallschirmjaeger

These are 20mil mid ww2 German paras. representing a squad. Manufacturer is FAA. Early war, they'd be in light grey-blue. From 1943, or so, they'd have two gpmg per squad. The fg42 was actually rather rare, only 7000 were made. If and when they actually jumped into combat, roughly one in 4 would jump with an smg on them. The rest would have pistol and grenades. Separate containers were dropped containing rifles and mg 34. On Crete, there were numerous instances where they dropped and were either being shot at as they landed or assaulted positions straight away. Pistols and grenades versus dug-in prepared positions! One reason for their high casualties. FJ relatively rarely actually parachuted into combat, they'd have rubber knee protectors if they did. Until very late war, the chute they used connected to a single ring on the harness. They dropped kind of face down with little to no steering and would drop on all fours. Overall, not a barrel of laughs.
