Fighter demonstrating burnishing

I "painted" the shiny steel on this figure using a burnishing technique, lo-lighted by painting. The reflection of the sword hilt you can make out on his right pauldron is an actual reflection. The actual figure looks pretty much like it's chromed... or polished steel. Thought you fans of NMM might find this interesting. A knight in shining armour....

I agree that the flat medium of the web makes NMM appear much better than real life.

The face is shaded, and he has eyes. The face is also a lot lighter than it looks in that photo. I think the brightness of the reflected light off the burnished metal might be the reason it looks dark. Not sure... But my purpose in posting the picture was primarily to show you can use burnishing on 30mil figures. I posted the picture on the site rather than as an attachment in the forums, perhaps that wasn't ideal. IMO. NMM looks better in photos than first hand and the reverse is true with burnishing. Or at least with 30mil figures,

It's nice to finally see a burnished mini on here. But it sure is hard to do on minis smaller than 54mm. You've done well with this one. The gold hilt on the sword looks good too. The only thing I would contend with is the face. It doesn't look shaded very well, and I can't make out an eye (but that may be because of the shadow from the visor.) Nice technique, would like to see more of it. :)
