Lady Bee ... Captive Dancer (nudity)
As I mentioned in my last post, I'm starting a rather large post-apocalyptic diorama and this is the second installment. We last saw Nina coming to a stop on the road ... her destination ... an old saloon turned gentlemen's club called The Meat Market. In this dark, fewture-world, the dancers are not all human and they don't dance of their own free will. This piece uses Nirasawa's fantastically original 1/6 scale Woman Bee from Fewture Models; it is entirely hand-painted with acrylics and inks. I thought she had a wonderful grace to her and that gave me the idea of posing her as an exotic dancer. The base is scratch built ... complete with concertina wire to keep the dancers safe from the rowdy clientele likely to frequent such a place (and if you check out her hands and stinger (actually real needles) ... it might keep the clientele safe from her as well). A few notes about the process ... the wings were cast in clear resin ... I painted the structure of the wings similarly to our lady's exoskeleton and then used a few thinned inks (mostly purple on the front, mostly green on the back) to give the impression of iridescence. I then used a little bit of thinned metallic gold here and there to give the wings a little bit of a pop and the impression of some additional structure. For the concertina wire, I used a product I picked up a LONG time ago ... I'm pretty sure this is where I got it : http://www.patchesofpride.com/pages2/warwire.html ... it's very cool stuff, but a real pain to paint, it is very springy and has a lot of sharp plastic edges (as you'd expect for concertina wire) :) Well, I hope you like her.
