Thanks for the thoughts but the brass has actually already had highlights of gold and a glaze of brown. I'm planning on going him some brighter gold and possiblysome silver extreme highlights to fix the flat appearance in the photos.

I suggest a brown wash for your brass areas and then highlight with a gold.
