Minotuar Drummer Conversion
Minotaur Drummer: A simplistic conversion utilising the hands and Dragonhead drums from the Ogre Dogs of War set, a Minotaur with two weapons, body and head, and a little bit of Green Stuff. I originally made the mini for Gamesday 2001 but I never got round to painting it. The conversion was just to use the forearms from the Ogre and pinned them in place on the Minotaur’s upper arms. Then I ground down a groove in the rear of the drums in order that they could fit on the appropriate legs. I filled in the gaps and shaped a bit of musculature on the junction of the two arms with Green Stuff. What I would do different if I were to repeat this project:- I would use the Minotaur’s arms and cut off the weapons and replace with the bone drumsticks from the Ogre but not use the Ogres arms. Technically: This is painted in GW colours using the thin layering technique. The fur base coat is Scorched brown, with a highlight of Scorched/Bestial Brown mix. A shadowed definition mix was a very thin wash of Scorched brown, Chaos Black and Brown ink followed by successive highlights of Bestial Brown, Bestial Brown/Snakebite mix right through to adding a small amount of Bleached bone to the final mix. Flesh Tones started with thinned coats of Tanned Flesh then mixed in Dwarf Flesh with successive additions of Dwarf flesh until I started additions of Elf flesh and then later Pallid flesh, until the brightest highlight is virtually pure Pallid flesh. Metal tones are NMM with a poor (I admit) attempt at Reflective NMM. This was my Warhammer monster entry for UK Golden Deamon 2003, which didn’t get anywhere.
