Eldar Exarch Conversion UKGD2003 Finalist

Eldar Exarch: Just a simple conversion but I’m pleased with the sculpting of the hair. I cut off the left arm and the Cockscomb of the helmet, Sculpted on the hair with the ubiquitous Green Stuff. Drilled and pinned the Jain Zar’s Blade of destruction and glued in the arm with some Green stuff for filler. Painting was Black Primer then a base coat of Chaos Black and ‘Winsor & Newton’s’ Payne’s Grey mixed then thinly applied. Next the start of the highlights with pure Payne’s Grey then working up through adding very tiny amounts of Codex grey to the mix. The Armour sections were thin coats of Vomit Brown then Bleached Bone continually added as lightening, with final highlights of Skull white added to the mix. I added a little shadow/deep colour by using a very thin wash of Snakebite leather at a ratio of 1:12 with water, painted on using the finest brush I have. The final highlights on the left arm were pure white. It took several days to get it all painted and the spiral on the arm itself took well over an hour to do. The Sword and Blade of Destruction are both NMM, which I think I’m getting the hang of. Overall I think this took about 25 hours, but as it got me a Finalist place at UK Gamesday 2003 I’m definitely not complaining.
