Tzeentchian Warlord (Conversion) UKGD2003 Finalist

Tzeentchian Warlord. Another simple conversion using the recent Warhammer Chaos Warlord, which is not a figure I like! I had not intended to do this for Gamesday but as one of Three figures using the same conversion parts. However, I just started and like a snowball, rolling downhill it rather ran away with me. I like the way the head is raised looking up for some sign from his patron. Painting started with a base coat of Payne’s grey over Black Primer then adding Regal blue and Codex Grey to the Payne’s Grey. This is where serendipity steps in ‘cos I wasn’t happy with the transition of the highlights and decided to give it a wash of Blue Ink. This is Citadel Blue Ink from the Round Flip top pots of nearly 10 years ago and I think it may have changed a little in the pot. I did the highlights on one leg and saw the result then it was a wash all over and it dried to the soft purple lustre that’s the figures current status. I only added a little thinned Liche Purple to the shadows; the rest of the mini is just NMM and standard paint techniques. The fur cloak is Scorched Brown worked up through Bestial Brown and then into Foundry Tan shade, Tan and light tan as the highlights. Not really Drybrushed, as I only went in one direction with a very smooth brush. As you can see the sword is NMM as is the gold on the wizard’s staff, and wasn’t that a swine to paint. Considering that this was not originally intended as an entry I was very pleased to get through as a Finalist at UK Gamesday 2003.

Klute
cant really see enough close up detail to judge on it,though it looks well and neat.i think the problem is that theres nothing on the mini -be it sculpt or colour scheme- that stands out and screams at you.i think this is a major factor in judging minis.u need something that instantly grabs and makes them go wow
