My third completed miniature. I do feel I see some improvement in my shading and layering technique on this one. I decided not to use any washes, which turned out to be a good idea as there were pits and bumps on the figure, particularly on his sword side. The highlights are a bit brighter than they appear in the photograph. The part I like the best is the quiver, and the shading on the shield. I don't think the copper chainmail turned out very well, and my first attempt at freehand on the shield there is pretty pitiful. The base is just a scatter of tea leaves. I don't know anything about the figure other than it's between 10-20 years old, and it's marked D1 on the bottom. Please let me know if you know the manufacturer or model on this one!

Wonderful for your third mini! Keep it going dude! Just watch the grittiness of the paint.

I agree with KatieG; the number one thing that hurts is the sculpt. You have good shading -- the boots are terrific. Like the snotling, I think the highlights should be yellow-green. There is something chunky about the paint job; it may be the camera, or it could be that you're using bad paints/primer, or you're not shaking/mixing the paint/primer enough, or that you're not thinning your paints. I'm not sure which.

Nothing to take offense to, I appreciate the comment and the advice! I've been buying some newer models to paint up as Xmas presents, I was just trying to work on the basics with models I wouldn't feel too bad about messing up. ;->
