Warhammer Quest Bat

My fourth painted mini comes from an old Warhammer Quest box of my husband's. I found some unusual looking bat photos around the net, and modelled this little guy after one at http://www.hcc.hawaii.edu/~pine/images/Bat.jpg. As far as the painting goes, there's more shading and highlighting than I see in the photo, and I was pretty pleased with how the wings turned out. The body fur didn't end up as light as I was trying for to match the photo. The base is just some kitty litter painted up like fallen rock.

Although the paint job is good there's some contrast missing. Maybe blacklining is all this mini needs. And you chose some nice pastel colours, problem with that is, it's 'harmless' colours if you know what I mean. Not really fitiing for that kind of miniature. But that's just my taste.

Wonderful job. I think the base holds the figure back a little, but the bat itself is wonderful.

I was going to give this guy a six, but you squeezed a seven out of me. The reason is, I love the colors you've chosen for him. He's not black, which is the trap that I fall into all too often. Even though he's not the typical color, he still looks realistic, which he should, being that you based him on a real bat. Maybe the tongue should have been a little different color so it shows up more? I think you've done a great job with a small mini. You've given him real life and character. :)
