I am the Borg (an alternate Borg Queen)
From the first time I saw a picture of the Maria 2026 kit from Cygenus Studios, I immediately thought: Borg Queen. Well, it turns out ... When the special effects folks on the film First Contact were designing the Borg Queen there were two teams working on the design which to the best of my understanding became a bit of blending of the two (here's an interesting story about the process http://johneaves.wordpress.com/2009/06/01/jeager-n-eaves-battle-over-the-borg-queen/ ). One of the original options was turned into a beautiful resin kit by Matt Hawkins (of Cygenus Studios) and renamed Maria 2026. I've always loved the Maria 2026 kit and searched unsuccessfully for quite a while until I found some contact info for Matt who happened to have one left ... one of my grail kits had been found!!! I hadn't painted anything for a while (and I always like to jump start things with a grail kit) and I wasn't sure how my hand-brushing techniques were going to work at this scale (she's 1:2), but I am really happy with how she turned out.
