Alien Queen

Over a decade ago, Leading Edge Games produced a line of official "Aliens" minis. I think this was the only boxed set available at my local store, but oh! What a find! This was painted around 1991, there's no base because I *still* haven't decided how to base her. The eggs are plaster casts of the metal ones from the set, painted up quickly to accompany her into the display case. If anyone else here has one of these, message me (and post it!) :)

Well, to be pedantic, Giger did not design the Queen, it was done by the team for "Aliens" based on the original design concepts.

It does just look black and gloss coated, but I guess it's accurate to the movie. Actualy, it's H.R,Giger's work which has has some interesting deconstructions based on gender, technology and the male fear of the female reproductive system, he designed the aliens.

Fuseboy - that's easy for you to say, you didn't have to brush-paint the whole thing black, then drybrush on grey highlights which are barely visible after the gloss-coat (though I think the wet/slimy look is very fitting in this case). Yes, she does have "high heels", make of that what you will... (I think the film "Aliens" has some interesting deconstructions based on gender, technology and the male fear of the female reproductive system)
