BeastLord GorRathGar
Hi Folks, Well I managed to get “un-lazy” long enough to paint up another figure in time for this months Toadstools. I tried a few new techniques on this figure: NMM blending using Vallejo’s Intermediate Blue mixed in 5 stages from Black to intermediate blue to white. I had some help from Glynn with this initial color blends on the axe which I carried through to the rest of the figure. Including a minor attempt at some SENMM on the Chaos star and his belt. I think it works well. The Blues and Purples are layered as “normal” starting with the base color adding a little black for depth and gradual increases of white until the colors get that “pop” glowy type effect. His Skin is a base coat of GW Scorched Brown worked up with Game Color Dark Flesh lightened with Bleached Bone (I think I have found a my new favorite skin colors to work with). I had abandoned GW paints for a while after discovering the joys of Vallejo’s dropper bottles but I found a supplier for dropper bottles and transferred all my GW paints to the droppers. The top of an old plastic honey container made the perfect funnel once I trimmed the tip a bit the dropper bottles hold about 1.75 bottles of GW paint and make paint delivery to the wet pallet simple and easy. I have also switched to using distilled water for painting (Including my Wet Pallets) and I can feel a HUGE difference in the smoothness / thiness of the paint. The Base is made from a bark chip cut down to fit the GW sized base so the figure can fit in a beast regiment. The “Rock” is painted Black Dry-brushed Vallejo Black Grey, Codex Grey and Fortress Grey. The Flock is just some GW standard.
