I think at the end of the day an elf can look like whatever the artist has in mind, even blue skin with pink hair.

ZaPhOd, the dark skin & white hair dark elf is from D&D, mainly Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk. The Warhammer dark elf looks just like any other elf, except for the spiky armor.
