I am Fire! I am Death!
This was my entry into the Crystal Brush 2018 monster/vehicle category. It was fortunate enough to take bronze. I have always enjoyed the works of Tolkien. The worlds he created. I wanted to create a piece to take me back there. Smaug is one of my favorite characters. His power, greed, ferocity, and pompousness. His larger than life presence. I set out to create my own scene with that feeling. The base was constructed using plastic card, various bits, and confetti. I did my best to model the top of the arch after the art work found on the cover of the original Hobbit books. The plaque is on the back of the piece. My hope was when someone removed the piece from the case they would read this and it would help set their mind/the atmosphere before they even looked at the miniature. I hope you enjoy it.
