Warhammer Chaos Blood Warriors of Khorne
UNIT - considered as most elite rank and file unit. In old Warhammer Fantasy Battles they would count as chosen chaos warriors with mark of khorne. I see them as a temple guard (yeah yeah, I know, Khorne's temples are battlefields, not buildings, but still...) or maybe personal bodyguards of a deamonic warlord. Therefore a lot of evil runes, deamon faces and other decoration everywhere. MODELS - cherry picking all across current Warhammer range, from 12 different kits (can you name them? :-)) if I count correctly. :-) The base is of course blood wariors (both from starter box and standalone box), but enriched with many bits from another chaos and also stormcast kits. POSING - Even old chaos warriors weren't known as easy to rank. :-) These new blood warriors are of similar size but of much more dynamic poses, as allowed by loose skirmish formation of AoS. Placing them back in rank and file unit on square bases required some reposing. Actually it was like playing 3D Tetris. :-) CONVERSIONS - The largest effort was put into legs area. As this unit should be the most elite, I wanted them to be as heavily armoured as possible. So I replaced several ordinary lether boots with metal greaves. Other than that, it was mostly exchanging a helmet or weapon here and there. I also added some spears, which might be little unusual for blood warrior, because spear is not a typical Khorne’s (or chaos at whole) weapon. On the other hand, spear killed more people than sword, axe and mace combined - surely it has to have some apeal for god of war! :-) PAINTING - Generaly following the classical khorne theme red & bronze, but I strived for more true and darker feeling than "official" paint. As already said, armours are decorated almost to ceremonial level, but at the same time I wanted to give them some heavy duty look. Not much wethering or verdigris because well maintained, but tons of scratches because been through a lot of action.
