Angel of Peace

I purchased this mini to paint for my sister, and then got a push to paint it when I heard about a angel painting contest. Although the subject matter was perfect for what I wanted, the sculpt and the cast had some issues, including random blobs of metal on the wings, some pitting, and a generally not so smooth surface. The majority of the mini is painted with the new Adikolor paints, with one key exception. I based and highlighted the dark pink overdress in Adikolor, then did a glaze with one of Reaper's iridescent silks, then bumped up the highlighting with more of the silks. Adikolor was used for the shading, since I wanted to dampen the iridescence in the shadow areas. The iridescence does, of course, look much nicer in real life than in the photo, but the technique I described resulted in a much better photo than I thought it would, with the highlight reflections where they should be. I'll be posting a detailed review of the Adikolor on the forums, but in brief - nice selection of colours, particularly lighter ones; pretty amazing for layering, feathering with a wet brush very easy; some issues with little bubbles for basing and washing; some separation of colours on the wash I did on the base.

I've painted this mini as well and I agree that there are some problems with the models and with the sculpture. Still, I like having angels to counter the demons. I like this paint job.

The face is lovely but some other parts such as the wings and the harp look unfinished.
