The Coryphaeus

This was such a cool figure to paint! It was basically an experiment in weathering NMM and that sword was too nice to pass up :) Initially I was going to paint the whole thing, apart from the NMM in purples but changed my mind and made it earthy instead. I'm glad I did because I think the metal works quite nicely with it. The steel was painted using cold grey as a base and highlighted upto white on the top surface. The weathering was made using a couple of layers of VMC Smoke followed by VMC Red Leather and finally VMC Light Orange. The lightest areas of rust were stippled onto pure water and allowed to sort of do their own thing. All in all I'm quite pleased with the outcome, and am now considering painting an undead army. Any comments are welcome. Cheers! :)

It's not often I give 10 but..... I can't fault this, what a brilliant and subtle paintjob, both the figures' face and the face of the decapitated head are excellent. The use of the differnig greens gives this an unearthly and ghostly look. To me, this figure now needs a graveyard diorama to complement it.
