The Black Watch Standard Bearer

Standard Bearer conversion painted for the 1st Canadian Golden Demon. Would have been nice to be able to claim overall victory, but then I'd have had to do a much better job. Still, I think he's very eye catching and will look great on the table when I play WH40K. I give him a 5 because he's a little above my rank and file norm, but probably not what I would consider "officer" style. I think he's better then my Orc in regards to catching the eye and providing visual interest. Close scrutiny, however, shows that the glaze I attempted did not work well. This is about the point I realized glazes needed to go over a glosscoat to work correctly.

Thanks for all the comments. Thanks for the mark Axebone, although I think the scan flattered him. I'm borrowing a macro lense for my camera and will take a new picture of him, then you'll see. For those that are curious the banner reads. "Me Nemo Impune Lacessit" which is suppose to mean "No-one Provokes me with Impunity." except it should say "Nemo Me," not "Me Nemo." The inside says Emperor - Man - Marine. This is the trinity that stands between Chaos (the eye of terror on the left) and Mankind (earth on the right)

Maybe it's just me, Coyote... but, I have a feeling that if the image quality of this pic was better... the true level of the paint job would show. I think he's better than this scan makes it appear. For that, and for the more realistic approach to the marine color scheme... I popped you with the score I did. Good job on this dude.

nice scheme and color work, love the non comic book look for marines!! jar heads don't sit round spit shining armor in my universe;}. my only thought is the bolter. if you were holding a ( marines are 8 ft tall ) 16 ft banner, chances are you'd not be holding a two handed weapon like that.
