Space Marine Veteran Sergeant

Hello to all! My husband was afraid to have me help him paint his mini's until he had me help. When he saw that I could paint he gave me a challenge. Since I wanted to learn how to paint properly, he suggested that I learn how and paint his Command Squad. For several weeks I took the 5 guys to the nearest GW where they helped me learn all the steps to clean, assemble, prime, paint, flock and matte the figures. This is the Veteran Sergeant, I will be posting the other 4 separately. Keep in mind, this set is my first attempt at painting...I learned all my techniques from the guys at GW and thank them for the directions. Please let me know how well I have learned and any comments are welcome. Thanks in advance! Babela

i think its very nice, especially for the first paintjob, but you should try to mix the colours with water next time, they are a bit thick and "flocky" sometimes, e.g. on the shoulderpads

Fantastic work for your first painting effort! The main thing I would suggest is that you thin your paints a little. Although it may mean you need to paint an area twice, it will look very smooth. Keep going! Shaz

Excellent first figures. There ready for table top games for sure. The details you've captured are a nicely done. Your hand seems quite steady, ie. painting that auspex as detailed as you did. As a next step you could trim up a few lines (keep a black line between shoulder pad and trim), and add a highlight of lighter blue to the armor. Keep up the good work.
