Selmarina, Witch

This was painted for my parents, in traditional Hallowe'en colours as my mother likes to decorate for the holidays. I feel it would look best on a wooden display base, and as my stepfather is a cabinetmaker, I figured he'd prefer something he made to anything I could make or buy, so that's why there's nothing fancy with the base here. This was my first go at black, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'd love comments on that aspect in particular! Also the disk she's standing on is my second try at a steel type NMM, and comments on that would be very welcome. The gems were a real challenge for me. I understand the concept thanks to Chrispy's helpful article, just had problems with brush control. Note that the star on her hat, the shirt trim around her neck, and the bookmark are meant to be yellow cloth, not NMM.

The black is great and looks very convincing. As does the NMM. The hair could have benfitted from another highlight. And you really seem to have some difficulties with painting eyes. They rather look like cats eyes. You should try to paint the pupil so that it doesn't touch either the upper or lower lid, depending on where she's looking. To make it look real you basically just paint half a pupil.
