It is a noble attempt, but I'd consider putting away the NMM until you gain some better shading skills. There is no shame in using metallics, even on Rackham stuff.
Crappy Metallic > Crappy NMM
Decent Metallic > Decent NMM
Good Metallic = Good NMM
Great Metallic < Great NMM
