Taryn, Spearmaiden

This is Reaper's Taryn, Spearmaiden. I had planned to sell this fig, but the hairpiece is connected at such a small point, that I don't think I can ship it without breaking it. But I'll post it here anyway. This fig was a nightmare at all stages, from prep work (mold lines that were practically impossible to get to, let alone eliminate), to assembly (had to pin the hair twice), to painting, to basing, to photography (I think I took more pictures of this figure than any other that I've painted, and I'm still not happy with it). I love the pose. I think it's a tremendously dynamic figure. But I'll not be doing any more of these.... As usual, this was photographed using a 2.0 megapixel Fuji FinePix 2800Z using the macro function. My lighting rig consists of three clip lamps with 100 watt GE Reveal lightbulbs. Enjoy.

I would give this an eight for most of the paintjob - your highlights are very good - subtle without being unnoticeable. I have to agree with Smoth, though, about the spear - even some shadowing just around the hands would be good...it just looks a little flat compared tp everything else. Also, the base IS a little disappointing. It's important to base a figure with as much care as you paint it, and I think it would really enhance a quality paintjob. and you're right this is a NIGHTMARE to assemble, and I won't ship it for the exact same reason.

Nice ! A few suggestions : the hair could be highlighted in a more 'sourced' fashion - for instance, don't highlight the strands that are underneath the mass of hair so much. Also, the pole of the spear could use a bit more highlighting. Finally, it might just be because of a stray lock of hair getting in the way, but she looks a bit cross-eyed.

hmm pretty good but I don't like a few things about her. first she looks cross-eyed and secondly it looks like you skimped on the spear. aside from those the baseing material is too thinned out around the edges of the base. some plumes of static grass here and there could help alot. I like it but I think with more time spent she would be a good solid seven
