Anduriel Brightflame, Elven Warrior

My first figure painted after acquiring some Vallejo paints: the gold non-metal metal is all Vallejo. My first impression of Vallejo wasn't so great; I failed to mix them well and then seemed runny. Upon mixing them properly, I was amazed by how smoothly they went on and how well they blended. And they cover great, too. I'm hooked. As for Anduriel, like so many other figures, he'd been sitting on my shelf. Originally purchased for a conversion that I didn't have the gall to do (the small blade was to be replaced with a small axe; too tough without a lot of Dremeling and patching I didn't feel like doing), he seemed the perfect test subject for the new Vallejo paints. In fact, I'd used him once before to test some sky-earth non-metal metal -- this, I painted over to get what you see here. Another small experiment I tried was his eyes cast upward as though watching gamers from tabletop level. It's quite a cute effect in person, but it's hard to capture in photos. I probably should have snapped a pic from that angle, but the idea of Anduriel rolling his eyes kind of cracks me up for some reason. Kep
