Taenar the Scaly, Cultist Leader
When I first see a figure and a colour scheme immediately springs to mind, I can not resist picking it up right away. And I laugh. Oh, how I throw my head back and laugh! Then, after explaining to the store staff that yes, I do intend to buy it, if only they'd BACK OFF and give me five more minutes of laughter. No, I won't stop bapping strangers with a copy of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Gosh, such picky store owners and their "rules!" Such was the case for this figure: the colour scheme is exactly as I pictured it. The hieroglyphics are inspired directly from actual Egyptian ones, though I didn't arrange them to spell out anything (that was just a bit too much effort for my tastes) and they're not enclosed in a cartouche. In all honestly, I think I could have done them much better and they really didn't come out quite as impressive as they were in my head. I really should have attempted the entire cartouche anyway, but I felt the figure would be far too busy. I'll need to pick up another suitable looking figure specifically to give that a go. And oh WOW, don't you just get the feeling this guy was royally gypped at the weapons store? "Hey, Joe, I need a good sword." "Sword? You don't need no sword, Taenar... What you need is a good old fashioned SNAKE." "Hmm, alright, Joe... I'm listening." Kep
