Dark Angels Command Squad

This is my command squad for my gaming army of Dark Angels. The Force Commander stole his banner from a dreadnought, with the plastic tubing used to lengthen his banner pole taken from a 1st ed. Rhino. The standard's shoulder pads are not NMM, but a build up of Brazen Brass, Shining Gold, and Mythril Silver, with 'Ardcoat painted over the matte varnish.

Very nice looking figs, the bases though i think ought to have a black rim rather than green just to smarten the boys up, tidy job though well done. As for not doing bases at all well thats just plain stupid, the base is what brings all your hard work together, to leave them undone is pretty poor, whats the point in having a collection of half done models?

Thanks for the kind words... I like to keep the small bases pretty simple. I don't want them too distracting. On the larger bases for the Termies and Dreads I mix in some rocks, bricks, and static grass in because a big open area of flock looks like a Dread is standing in somebody's front yard... Not intimidating.

Anybody that can do banners like that deserves a high score. I wouldn't worry about the bases though. Some people here are a lot more hung up on the base than they are the actual mini itself. Heck, I usually like to leave a base plain black. I'm not doing bases, after all, I'm doing miniatures. The base is just what keeps them from falling over. :P That, and I actually game with my minis, and nothing looks stupider than a jungle scene base indoors, or wood planks in the middle of a jungle.
