Ultramarines 1st Co: Lt-Commander Cagliostro

This little fella's my Ultras 1st Co Commander. He uses the body of the basic GW Termie Captain, with a pair of old Rogue Trader-era Lightning claws. The whole army (Deathwing list, so they're all Termies) is made up of RT-era Termie models (to re-enforce the Battle of Macragge theme of the army), & this guy is the only one who's in 2Ed+ Terminator armour. I wanted to keep the theme a bit though, so that's why he's got the older-model L-Claws. His tabard's painted up with a white chevron on red, again, the whole army uses the same motif, but it was tricky (for me, at least ;)) to get the design to be recognisable on the rippled surface, but it's recognisably a chevron & so hopefully it makes sense. All comments, crits & moans, more than welcome. Yes, even the moans.. ;) Cheers!

NICE! love the armour paintjob and especially your freehand. your technique for a clean white on the shoulder pads works significantly better than on your banner-bearer (and his helmet), mainly due to the freehand deco, i think! i wouldn´t have used the gold on the claws but this really is just purely personal taste. the cool banner design (elegantly simple but most striking!) tops it just nicely -pun intended- your best mini in my eyes-go on! Happy painting! ah yes- the eyes really are a bit large...as were mine...

Thanks lads, tbh I thought the banners was probably the weakest part of the odel, but then again whaddooiknow? I've never had my painting described as "naughty" before so that's pretty cool. The L-Claws were pretty much done in as quick a scheme as I could, I needed a consistent scheme for the army, & gold over black just seemed an eay way to do it at teh time. The eyes were a bigger to paint as it happens, & probably could do with a little toning down. I do like fairly large eyes on my moels, makes it a bit easier to bring out the facial expression, although it can be easy to go too far. :D
