Great job. I really don't mind the colours not being smoothly blended. Extreme blending is over-rated IMHO, in some cases it can kill the contrast of a model and is only good for show-pieces. A little bit of noticeable colour-change in the highlighting is acceptable as long as the colour choice is right. I bet this one looks great on the tabletop to the naked eye.
True what Sivousplay said, but I also think you should have followed the curves of the model instead of making a kinda of pattern when you did the highlights. Anyways, outstanding freehand! And the gold nmm barding is brilliant!
