Eldar Jetbike Rider Vs Tyranids

This was my entry for Best Duel at Gamesday Baltimore (and much to my surprise, won a gold). The idea is based very loosely off of a 40K game I once played. In the previous edition of WH40K, if your jetbikes or vypers were shot down and the crew survived (and you had appropriate guardian models available), you replaced the vehicle with a crewman. During the game, one bike was shot down over a swarm of seven or so hormagaunts, so the pilot ended up in the middle of them. Shocking everyone, he actually survived several turns! The water on the base is EnviroTex Lite resin. If you look closely, you can see bubbles -- these were intentional, and made by poking the end of a brush through a heated blister pack. The indention was cut off, glued to the base, and then resin poured over it. Pretty fun and easy effect. Kep

I agree with rextalon, the positioning of the Eldar and gaunt is not done to the best. The gaunts head and left claw arm shoud all be faceing forwards. On the whole a very impressive diorama and great use of colours.

I'm actually surprised this placed so highly. The positioning is not very well done. The Eldar looks like he's beeing supported by some unseen force. The "statue" is far too dynamic a pose. The Inquisition is supposed to be a secretive organization, so they probably wouldn't have statues anyway. And the number ONE thing that really bites it is the positioning of the Gaunt head. It is in the process of being shot. Only a creature that has fear and doesn't use it's teeth as a primary weapon would turn it's head away when it's that close and being shot at. A tyranid has no fear and uses it's teeth as a primary weapon. It would not turn away. If it wasn't turning away while being shot the shirken would have entered through the mouth and exited the back of the head, not side to side, as we see here.
