LotR Radagast and his Violent Sapsuckah

This piece made final cut but didn't place at Gamesday Baltimore 2005. I decided to give him a yellow-bellied sapsucker as a companion bird rather than the crow it looks like. Solely based off of some silliness here on the CMON forums. Radagast never made it into the films, but apparently he was the one who taught Gandalf how to talk to the eagles. Which makes him the Doctor Doolittle of LotR, only he can talk to just birds. Or maybe more limited like Aquaman, only with birds, not fishes. If he was REALLY like Aquaman, he wouldn't be Radagast the Brown. He'd have to be Radagast the Green-Tights and Orange Scale-Shirt Clad. But that's too long, so everyone would call him Skeeter. Kep

nice solid paintjob, but the face lets it down somewhat. the scenic base is also oversized. 8.5

Don't know about teaching Gandalf, but Radagast talked to all the animals. Trouble is he gets so attached to the animals he forgets about the hunt for the ring and people in general. Saruman tricks him into sending Gandalf to Orthanc to be captured but before leaving Gandalf asks Radagast to have the eagles come bring him news, and that's why the eagle shows up to rescue Gandalf. In other words, in the movie Radagast is a moth. Very well done. the cape is particularly smooth and the freehand tunic is great. That is the biggest, buffest sapsucker I've ever seen though. Would likely have done better as a raven. I also find the trophy base so big it overwhelms the mini.
