brass etched details

Anyone able to point me to a few good sites with the brass etched extras for modeling sci-fi and fantasy? I\'ve seen people use them for fern leaves, metal gratings, and other details they\'d rather not sculpt or draw freehand as little finishing touches.

Thanks all!

Forgeworld has a number of sets for 40k. Just Chaos and various Imperial styles tho.

I\'m not sure who else makes them, but I\'m sure there\'s a ton of generic ones for stuff like leaves, grilles, armor plates and whatnot.

I think it\'s possible to have custom brass etching done too, if you want something really specific and have a bit more cash to splash. Might be worth looking into?

Nice, those Hasslefree ones were the first to pop into my head but I couldn\'t remember who made them :p

Hasslefree doesn\'t make them, just carry them in their online store. Very handy if you buy minis from them.

The product they sell is from Scale Link, if I remember correctly. They have lots of other brass etched stuff and also several different scales.

Another good source is 4D Modelshop.

Makes a large amount of etched brass.

There are countless companies who make etched brass for specific scale military models.
To many to list really.

Could you try when you have a moment?
To list them I mean.
For those of us that like to shop around and have never had the chance to use brass yet?

Please?

I don\'t trust google to know what I\'m asking for, nor do I trust in my ability to search using it.

Also, why attempt with google, when the combined experience of hobbyists is at our disposal?
I\'m not a lazy git!
Actually just trying to avoid costly mistakes!

Thanks though!

I think the secret is to know what you want. I wanted parts for a 1/35 \'willys jeep\' so just put in \'brass etched parts + willys jeep\' and hey presto 20,000 hits! The first one on the page was just what I wanted.

The + sign is important, other wise you get \'willys jeep\' sites and \'brass etched\' sites. Historical re-enactors are not what I want and neither are dolls house detail pieces.

Make sense?

You can buy etching kits. Micro-mark sell them for modellers. They come with all of the necessary materials - you just have to supply artwork.
You print out the art onto the resist media, apply it to the brass sheet and expose to UV light, then immerse in the tank of etchant solution until everything that shouldn't be brass goes away. The chemicals CAN be rather nasty (resulting in serious injury) if misused, though so all care should be used (and protective gear).

Electronics hobbyists have been using them for decades - it's how you make a custom circuitboard.
My own electronics etching set will do the job of making etch pieces for models - I just can't be bothered doing it.
