Not my miniature!! Please read for description ;)

Sorry for posting this in the 'Discuss Submission-Area' but my heart aches by looking at this serious sniping going on at this site - i don't really care about it anymore when sometimes i got the feeling of some sniper activity, i got balls like coconuts in that subject and really someone sniping simply doesn't... mkay... this night grows old and i got to travel to Berlin tomorrow to visit one of the Happy Painting guys on this planet a bit further away... his balls are heavy as bowling balls.. ok, not really intresting i know... coming to the essence of my blabla... mystery... serious sniping from a ballless brain - check this out:

I had to post this, because Raffa is a really good friend of mine, a brother on the brush, so i had to post this - even i feel my balls heavy - it really seems to be raining all the time in those tiny hearts of those snipers... what a wasteful use of time, haha ... get some balls :)

At the moment i did post this the linked "CoolminiorNot" got a 7.7 with 31 votes... ah, my balls are itching...

Now what you think? Yeah, i am weirdo... Let the sun in your heart :)

Wow.. thats really, really nice... 10/10!

The atmosphere is great and 7.8 is no where near the score I would have given...

It is still early days and should settle out well .. way way way underrated it's a great piece.. I gave it 10 anyways .. Have to say it's happening more than ever a lately in fact I slipped up last night as just after the last batch were uploaded 2 of my pieces got 5 registered votes for an average registered score of 1.0 and there were only 6 users on at the time their names at the bottom could have made a shortlist for name and shame....

oh well guess it's the way it goes.... Jar you do right to champion the piece it's a cracker.

Yeah, an easy ten for me. I commented on the pic but leaving all the excellent paint and conversion work the scene is the poster to a movie I would like to see.

I've seen a lot of stuff bashed recently. More than ever before. Some of the Red Box games stuff looked like it got a little man handled that I noticed. It will likely level off but the point is some people had to look at that pic and give it a score of probably 5 or so. Maybe that is tabletop quality where they come from? If so, I want to know where they live so I can move there and game all day long!

Seriously, don't worry about the sniping too much. I anally-retentively track my votes and there is a "readjustment" that happens every so often that sets the score to a new value. Most I can guess is that it is kicking out votes that are well beyond the average. I personally don't understand it, but it happens.

So again, ignore the votes.

You shouldn't ever say something is getting sniped when it had less than 50 votes. You didn't paint that (I think) but it does look rather arrogant to be saying things like that.

At the moment it is 8.6 with 48 votes. Seems pretty fair to me. The base is messy and far too cluttered and I just don't think it is a very cool miniature. Perhaps there are people who don't like the style you and this fella use, they might not think they are very cool either!

Lots of these threads have popped up now where users have been annoyed that their latest peice doesn't reach the levels they normally do and instead of looking at ways to improve like I try to do, they blame sniping instead. Take my latest two submissions for example, they are at a 6.5 and a 6.9. They possibly look better in real life but I take those numbers as the general concensus of the internet.

Don't lose heart when things aren't as great as you think. Turn it into a good thing to set yourself a target to do better!

agree there .. mine wasn't a moan never bothered about scores I always knw my photography sucksand paint for what I like in hand anyways ....

there's times when it's blatant there's times when it'sdifference of opinion it's all horses for courses and isn't exactly the most mportant thing in the world.....

it's also a good point about using it as a target to get better but then again there in lies the problem if people do that and the scoring isn't bing done justice to begin with then they are on a hiding to nothing .. more is gained from constructive crit and reasoning for why they have voted lower numbers.. not enough people vote and comment with reasons for lower numbers .... most are quick to slap a 10 wow that's brilliant comment on leaing to a whole string of them .. yetno-one says 7 .. too much going on for me maybe try ..."insert helpful comment"

oh well guess it will never change ....

Really don't get me wrong here, you are right this is a piece a friend of mine did. I am not thinking about ratings anymore as you said there are different tastes, likes and dislikes and there shall forever be so... and so much things going on around like the quality of the photos, the painted models, etc., etc. like demonherald said... don't worry i didn't want to seem some kind of arrogant in here, that is never my goal and when i am smiling in the mirror in the morning there is no reason why i ever could become so... just happy how my life is whatever number is above a photo

... just to be honest, i did start on this page 4 years ago also with ratings around 5 ... and at this time i did care about it like hell, i delete most of my uploads again which went under 8 after a year or so... stupid, really... today my lowest piece is at 6.8 and i am still proud of it and thinking back at the fun i had painting it is still enourmous ... so this is nothing about my miniatures, i guess my pictures of my miniatures get what they deserve and i am fine with it... why shouldn't i ... because every day is good because i am alive and healthy :)

I also know that low numbers of votes, ähm, lost in my own words ...

I mean that saying this about a friend's miniature isn't a reason to blaime me with arrogance, sorry i am not with you in this case...

I just felt the urge to talk about that, as i also did recognize things going strange ways sometimes in here... for example take this sculpt - even if it doesn't fit to all tastes, it is still a very skillful work at 7.6 and in my own eyes underrated ...

As stupid as it sounds but in cases where marketing, selling on ebay come to a miniatures destiny you can not say there is no sniping going on... it is a matter of fact which really can make your Happy Painting flow break down and stop... it did to me a while ago but after loading up my first miniature in here and after i did look at its rating...

... i have learned a lot about the use of votings on this site - don't take them serious, even in most cases they fit to the uploaded item... and this isn't meant to show me in an arrogant light... it is just strange sometimes, mostly when you got a feeling of instincts who the guys are that have no balls... voting a 6 on the piece i had shown above and missing to write a comment to it why they did so... i am always trying to write a comment when i vote, really you can believe me, even if i vote a 4 or 5, i still try to write a comment of Happy Painting Motivation...

So sorry if this is some kind of useless spam in your eyes or even makes me stand now under the light of arrogance... wether i still don't get why, haha... but ok, everyone's opinion is more than welcome...

Simply have been confused yesterday and had to write this... take it as you may take it... but most important in the end is always...

ah to be fair he is gonna sell that himself, not on ebay, but i know what you mean as for your scene, fecking brilliant. and easy 9.5 from me. balloons are a little clunky at their bases but otherwise very cool. that rose mini is tiny aint she? edit: oh hang on, it's not yours!! oh dear, bit slow this morning. thought the base seemed a little small!

First, thanks Roman for this thread, it wasn't really necessary but it feels good you care for me that much ;)

So, thanks for all the nice feedback you guys gave me but i dont't think people like Niall got it right.

I really don't have a problem if a person rates this a 7 or even a 6 but it would be nice to give a comment if you have some constructive critic.

The problem is: I think most people would give this piece a vote abote 8, i don't want to sound arrogant, but a rating as 7.7 doesn't come from people that vote a 6 or 7, it comes from the few people that voted much lower and that is the thing that is really annoying.
They don't do this because they think it's a 1 or 2, it's just for pushing the thing down.

Maybe it would be an idea if you had the option to submit a piece and check a checkbox so that only registered users could vote it, i think it would be a much more interesting score...

So, i hope you don't understand this post as a arrogant statement, i just think that some pieces here get pushed down by some people and i think that just isn't right.

PS: I can live with the score, i get the valuable feedback from the comments, if you want to say "nah this piece sucks because of this and that" say it with a comment instead of just giving a 1 ;)
