Now, I know that most of you aren't where I am, heck, I'd be damn scared if any of you are since I'm at home for the moment...
But I just had to share this... The frost is heavy, It's the coldest here this far and not a single cloud in the sky! My favourite season is on it's way and I'm feeling all giggly!

So... I'll apologize for any superhappyfuntime silliness from my part the next coming months beforehand. :D

We had our first frost yesterday here in Normandie, slap bang on the firstday of winter. Which is a shame as it kills off all the mushrooms of which were growing well past thier usual end of season.

The car needed de-icing for the first time this year yesterday :(

I am not a big fan of winter at all. I blame my South African heritage. It hasn't left me well suited to the cold of northern England.

We had our first frost yesterday. Our dogs loved it, especially when they discovered how easily they would slide on the frosted leaves that fell from our Pecan tree.

it starts to get really cold, hate it. i like spring and autumn but in damn sweden these seasons are like two weeks each, which usually rains away.

dark when i go to work, dark when i go home, cant understand how anyone can like that.

I don't mind the cold and the dark, though I may not actually like it. It was frost here in Stockholm as well. We had some about a month ago or more, though, so it's the second frost.

i quite like the cold when it's crisp like in the photo. i just get up with the cold damp that we have over here. just cold enough to still be raining...

i dont mind not sweating all the time. but then im originally from the northern parts of sweden, the part where foreigners think that polarbears traverse the streets and penguins order stuff at the bar....

im still in my t-shirts.

Which is, of course, absurd. They certainly don't let the penguins in to the bars.

we're having our usual wonderful weather here... rain followed by a bit more rain interspersed with chilling wind to just make sure you feel it in your bones all toppedoff by more rain .. saturated gound rising rivers and eminent floods approaching... lovely.

Cool! You guys living so far north make me feel feeble for moaning about the chill here in the UK ;) Although my impression is that in Sweden you tend to do things because they are sensible rather than merely profitable. The UK's pathetically constructed housing stock (built since the 1960s) is a miserable blanketing of our green spaces with hideous estates of plasterboard walls that a 2 year old can lean against & leave a hole, freezing concrete floors & non existant insulation. Apparently we do have building regs but rather than considering them a minimum standard to build up from they act merely as the maximum any builder aims for. Cheapest possible materials, design & labour. 25 year mortgage for a property that 1:3 need major stuctural overhaul within 20 years! Typical UK value! Rather like my feelings about dentists (to be saved for another rant) it would seem that UK architects are bereft of imagination, skill or craft. Churned out year after year by universitys to have the skills that will get them a job within the industry, leaving us with the same cookie-cutter designs, laid out by some prat who's never even been on site. Entire estates built so that rooms receive no direct sunlight, the pretence of detached homes which are actually squashed onto less land than a terrace built a century ago. For pity's sake, the corrugated tin houses put up as temporary homes after the second world war in Barnsley are still occupied! I could bang on & on of course but shall pause here to say, if the weather's cold outside, that's fine, it's sitting indoors freezing my nads off because it never occurred to the greasey architect that anyone might not be able to afford to heat a concrete box for 4 months of the year that drives me nuts. I won't even start on the people sat in their living rooms in thin cotton pants & a t-shirt with the central heating on full blast, who open a window to let the place cool down a bit!?! Jealousy or green credentials? You decide :D B.

I can't see what the problem is, over here it gets light between 0630 & 0700 each day and sunset is around 1900 regardless of time of year.

Its only rained twice today and I managed not to get soaked the rest of the day its been around 36 degrees C and if I have had to work outside then I have found myself sweating like a Royal Marine on a spelling test :beerwave:

We had our first snow here in Nebraska a month ago. There have been a few days that were in the 70's, but for the most part it's been cold and frost on everything every morning.

Maybe it's me getting older, but I can't stand the cold.

Hmmm... already on the third snow of the season here. Currently minus 9C, and supposed to have a high of minus 6C, then an overnight low of minus 14C (16F, 22F, and 6F for us 'Mericans). The snow storm from three weeks ago (which was more than half a meter) is still on the ground in patches, and we got a fresh 1-2 inches last night. Haven't looked hard because I get to shovel the drive.

Wonder if I can add a picture via the cell phone? Have to try that later.

We've been ridiculously hot. it's -10 celsius right now without any more than a trace of snow. Not typical at all. Typically we have permanent snow by Halloween or earlier.

Yesterday was nice where I am, cold and frosty but a lovely fresh day. Today on the other hand is bloody miserable, it's tipped it down and my feet are freezing.

We dropped below 21C last night!!!! (and yes, I did that conversion just for you lot, because it was really 70F :p)


It's suppost to rain here all day today and tommorow as we get our first real cold front of the season.

It might just be lower 60F (15C) around Christmas :cute:

I've only seen this 'snow' thing you talk of once. It 'snowed' in 1988, I was 2 and it didn't make it to the ground, but I remember.

Well around here ( Toronto ) still no frost and no snow. They stated that this was the first time in 75 years that there was no snowfall in November. I can live with that.Skiers hate it, golfers love it, they are still getting some rounds in.
